Mosquito Peak Adventure Today
Submitted by Bill on Sat, 09/04/2004 - 12:42pm
Terrain Distance (approx): 18.96 miles (one way)
Climbing Distance: 5,117 feet
Highest Altitude: 8,057 feet
Trip Time: approx. 8 hours
Average Grade: 5
Difficulty: Moderate.
Today I am embarking on a moderate adventure. Sure 32 miles dosent seem moderate but keep in mind I used to do the VT 50 and won it twice. No this one should be fun and beautiful.
plan to leave at around 2PM and race the daylight. Reason actually is that I got up late. The plan is to park at the main trailhead at the Rattlesnake Recreation Area. I want to ride my bike up the cooridor (click on maps for a visual) and lock it up at the wilderness boundary. I expect it to take me 1.5 hours to get there.
I will slop on my sneeks to run the remaining 5 miles to the peaks summit. I expect to return a little slower taking pictures. Once back on my stead though it will be a matter of 1 hour to get back to the car. From there it is to Taco DeSoul .... Yummm.
Cant Sleep
Submitted by Bill on Thu, 09/02/2004 - 11:49pmI must go to bed. Damn I have been spending way to much time in front of the computer. In a way it is good because I am getting some time in with PHP and databases while I work on my site. This is what I want to do in the professional world. So in a way this is good exercise. Tomorrow I MUST pay the bills if there is enough money to go around. I want to explore the Brew Pub part of Missoula tomorrow also and then maybe a back pack trip into the Rattlesnake this weekend.
Well, maybe it is time for bed ... OK, goodnight!
New Wheel
Submitted by Bill on Tue, 08/31/2004 - 3:06pmWhen I finally called Nashbar I knew what the answer would be. "We have no record of an order", someone said on the other end. This is the second time Nashbar has lost my order. I headed to do the bike shop tour, which i didnt mind. I like touring the shops. Big Sky had a $200.00 XT Wheel and i thought that I would have to come back for that. Now way, I finally rationalized. I would peice together my old one and a friends old one. I stopped by Sportsmans surplus ... no wheels.
After the Bicycle Hanger I was feeling like I would be indeed building the new one. Next stop, Open Road. There I hit pay dirt. They had a old Rolof hub laced to a new rolof rim. Its a sweet wheel ... I figured the guy would say $300.00 or something. We chatted. " ahhh ... humm", he paused. I t seemed that he wanted to get rid of it and didnt want to over proce it. "Seventy dollars." Holy shit I fell over in amazement.
Sold!
Job Acting
Submitted by Bill on Tue, 08/31/2004 - 10:09amGood morning. I awoke to find mom on the web and chatting with her as I speak. My plans to act like I have a job are falling through. I get up whenever and now I am playing on the web. I planned to get out for a hike early and get some stuff done. Mainly call Bike Nashbar as they lost my order again. Fuck, I hate Nashbar and Performance. I will never use their service again. Well I will start now by signing off and getting on the ball!

New Wheels
Submitted by Bill on Mon, 08/30/2004 - 8:48amGood morning. I have a headache but it is slight and I will try and get a handle early. I ordered a wheel last night and it was $150.00 (my rear wheel on my mountain bike is toast). I cant afford it and maybe I will not be able to fix my car's turn lens right away. I cant believe it is already a junker.
Today is laundry and clean day and hopefully I can jump on that and then get online later at the Liquid or the Library. Mostly the Library so I can get more audio books. I have to get a handle on my hike logs and pictures in the picture gallery.
No one has visited my site to see the new theme yet and that bugs me. I cant expect everyone to though and must get over it. Well I have to run for now ... I am thinking of changing my blogger theme as well. All this customization ... I must be on the edge of depression.
