Hello From 7,200 Feet

Up on Little Saint Joe Mountain in the RM Cabin I cannot sleep. Paul is snoring away and the fireplace is crackling with a fresh load of wood. I am laying in my bunk and what better place to blog from. I whip out my PDA and start to type by candlelight.

Today I summited the peak while Paul waited about 500 feet down sheltered by some trees. The wind was ferocious and it brought stinging flash freeze tingles to any exposed skin. I took some video and quickly tried a retreat back down to Paul. I must of stuck my skis into a dozen  ice drifts and fell on my face. After some extreme conditions I made it back to where Paul was waiting.

The ski to the cabin was fun, powdery, but too short. I almost skinned back up a little ways to do another run. Instead I opted to go inside to warm up and eat as the skin up (breaking trail) today was brutal hard.

I ate smoked oysters, pasta, crackers, and some fresh roasted (right on the stove) almonds. After winding down in front of the stove I think I had 1 to many cups of hot tea and now can not fall asleep.1
