Garnet Ghost Town Mountain Bike Ride

Yesterday I went up I90 to the Bearmouth exit. I drove to the turn off for Garnet Ghost Town. I started there. I biked to Garnet up the dirt road. 10 miles and 2,000 feet of climbing. I then did a 10 mile loop around Anderson Hill (mountain). That was another 1,000 feet of climbing. Then I did the 10 mile high speed downhill (yahoo) back to the car.

Just a mile from the car it got dark as night. I looked at my watch and realized that it should still be daylight. It started to rain so heavy I couldn"t see the road .... then hail. Then lightening! I got to the car and busted out of there. Going back to the Interstate I had to dodge boulders and mud slides that where on the road. It was like that commercial for a SUV that had to dodge a logging truck and boulders. NOTES ON IMAGES ABOVE: The images above are of the loop around Anderson Hill and not the bike ride up to that loop.

You can see a portion of that road on the second map in the lower left. If you ask, was it really that steep on the south side. Oh yea, do you want to climb it with me? Give me a call!
